Foreign relations of India and Mexico are improving , recently India and Mexico discussed ways to increase cooperation in key areas of trade and energy . External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj invited Mexican participation in indian government’s initiatives such as Make-in-India and Digital India.
Sushma Swaraj discussed with he Mexican counterpart Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas about the ways and means by which special relationship between the two countries can be strengthened . They also agreed to schedule the next meeting of the Joint Commission in Mexico in the second half of 2016.
MEA Spokesperson said that ” Acknowledging that the present bilateral trade volume of $6.5 billion was low, Swaraj sought Mexican participation in the flagship programmes such as Make-in-India, Digital India, Skill India and Smart Cities . Both sides shared their perspective on increasing engagement with the diaspora (Mexico has a 35 million diaspora in the US alone). They also exchanged views on cooperation on issues relating to women s empowerment,”.
The two Ministers also discussed number of areas including oil and gas, renewable energy, urban planning and the housing sector. India is the third largest purchaser of crude oil from Mexico. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also told counterpart Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas that India government is also interested in providing launch facilities for Mexican micro and nano satellites.
PM Narendra Modi ji has been in news for his Foreign visit to improve international ties .The Mexican Foreign Minister invited Modi ji to visit Mexico in the near future. Good Foreign relations can really help India alot in its progress . Let’s hope the present talks will be beneficial for both India and Mexico .
